Remote learning
As you may be aware, schools are required to have a remote learning plan in place so that any child who cannot attend school because of COVID-19 or due to snow does not miss out on their learning. The following explains our plans for remote learning for pupils where local or national restrictions mean that pupils need to stay at home.
Our remote learning plan has been made with our pupils and their families in mind. We believe that this strategy will work best for the children at our school. A summary of our remote learning plan is below. Specific plans may differ depending on the subject, where this is the case, teachers will be in touch with more information.

Subject Teachers to set and monitor remote learning for learners daily on Google Classroom. This should be based on what their class is currently studying. Some students may be invited to live streams of lessons, if possible. |

All Home Learning will be set through the Harrow High School Google Platform, and will require students to log into this with their @harrowhigh.com e-mail address, and password. Teachers are also likely to set work on other platforms such as SENECA, and Hegarty Maths, but the links to those will be posted on Google.
All live online lessons and registrations will be delivered on Google Meet, and only be accessible via a @harrowhigh.com e-mail address. All lessons will be recorded and attendance to lessons will be recorded.
What you’ll need at home
- A device that can access the internet, such as a laptop, desktop computer, tablet or smartphone
- A notebook or lined paper
- Planner and board pen
- A quiet space where they can work without interruption
If your child does not have any of the above, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can help support you. Please note that we only have a limited number of devices we can loan students, so where families are able to share devices, they should do so. In some circumstances, the school will be able to organise printed resources where pupils don’t have suitable online access.
What you can do to help
We appreciate that if this situation arises, it may present some challenges for you. We kindly ask for your support so that we can continue to provide high-quality education for your child during this time. We don’t expect you to watch your child all day, and we wouldn’t expect parents/carers to get involved in remote lessons in place of our teachers. But, it would be really helpful if you can take an active role in your child’s learning by asking them about their day and what work they’ve done.
Our top tips:
- Try to encourage your child to be ready and dressed for the start of the school day, and to keep to their timetable.
- Distinguish between weekdays and weekends, and make it clear when the school day is over, to separate home and school life
- Plan breaks and exercise into the day to help keep your child active

1. I am having problems opening and editing PDF documents – what should I do?
You do not need to edit or write on PDF documents. You can type your responses on Microsoft Word, or handwrite them and then upload a photograph

2. Should my son/daughter complete all work set by all teachers?
Where possible yes. If they are struggling to complete all the work in a reasonable working day, please contact their Standards and Achievement Leader (SAL)
