Gunpowder, Treason & Plot
Remember, remember the 5th of November...
On Friday 3 November, the GCSE Drama Students had their first experience of Immersive Theatre.
After being locked in a holding cell, they witnessed the pleas of the imprisoned and tortured Catholic priests before becoming the unwilling (but alive) assistants to Thomas Percy, defender of the plot to kill King James I of England at the state opening of parliament on 5 November 1605.
The piece took us all on a journey inside the genuine vaults beneath the Tower of London. With more information emerging through live action, virtual reality and utterly convincing scenarios, a decision had to be made ... to blow up Parliament or to rescue 'John Johnson' (also known as Guy Fawkes).
The learners were thoroughly engaged throughout the experience, all expressing just how much they had enjoyed the opportunity to experience a truly immersive performance.
